"Poetry Rings the World"Biken International, Japan’s premiere publisher of art and craft magazines and organizer of international benefit exhibitions, has launched its second “World Poetry Contest”. The organizers hope to spread the wave of writing poetry around the world and promote the distinctive Japanese styles of haiku, tanka, and senryu. Interest in Japanese-style poems has grown year by year, particularly in the Americas and Europe. Biken International would like to foster international exchange in poetry through its World Poetry Contests. The first World Poetry Contest was held in Russia in 2002. This 2nd World Poetry Contest will coincide with the New York International Art Festival 2006—'EN'—The Art of Japanese Identity Charity Arts Festival in Chelsea, New York City, 13-15 December 2006 and include entries in English from North America. (“En” means “circle” and “charming”; it suggests connection and beauty.) The Grand Prize: a Round-Trip Ticket to JapanAfter the New York Charity Art Festival 'EN', local judges will make a preliminary selection from all entries and literary artists who contributed their works at the exhibition will select the winning poem. The winning poet will receive a round-trip ticket to Japan. RulesOrganizer: The Poetry Renaissance Executive Committee of Biken International. Post Card FRONT Text:
